"Major League Sports against Trump?"

In USA Today's article,David Jackson stated what our President Donald Trump said “Most Americans agree with me about NFL players kneeling during the national anthem.” https://usat.ly/2k8etgS
That’s just foolish, not most Americans agree with Trump. Usually, some Americans feel as if people have their rights to do what they believe in especially if they feel that it is wrong. Trump thinks that he knows “what is right” for the people but all he wants to do is put his two cents in. Not only in the NFL are black people kneeling, this resorts to many other sports, such as hockey, and many other races kneeling or paying respect to, knowing what the history behind The National Anthem meant. Many Americans believe that the National Anthem is just a song to honor our fallen soldiers, but it is more than that, it is more the song than “O’ Say Can You See…” what about “...No refuge could save the hireling and slave...the terror of flight or the gloom of the grave...” Are we just supposed to forget that? President Trump has his way on slick talking “America”. Let us take Colin Kaepernick for an example. Kaepernick took a knee in protest of wrongdoings against African Americans and minorities in the United States. In the words of Kaepernick, “ I am not going to stand up to show pride in a flag for a country that oppresses black people and people of color… There are people getting paid leave and getting away with murder." http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap3000000691077/article/colin-kaepernick-explains-why-he-sat-during-national-anthem While we’re talking about NFL players, let us shine light on DeMaurice Smith, the NFL Players Association’s executive director. Mr. Smith says in an interview, “ Disrespecting our country or our flag...There is room for management to do the same and maybe then players do not have to risk the taunts and threats alone.” President Trump says he players are disrespecting the flag and deserve to lose their jobs. Why should NFL players lose their jobs? Why was President Donald J. Trump elected president? Oh right, because people like him. At least Football players get THE JOB DONE! President Trump has done what for our country for a better outcome? According to Gallup and BBC, when President Trump assumed office 20 January, he had the lowest approval rating of any incoming president. He won the election with “wishy- washy” numbers. With all of this said, I feel as if he was wrong for what he has said. People need to put themselves in others shoes and get a sense of how they feel, and experience their life and look at it from their perspective and when everyone reaches that level of respect the world can be a better place.

You really did get your point across! I liked how you used how trump won by "wishy-washy" numbers and how the players get their job done! Also how Kaeperick fist took a knee for wrong doings to African Americans.
ReplyDeleteTrump is taking this story and mixing it all around. If it isn't his way its the highway is how he thinks. Everyone should have the right to stand up for what they want. Or in this case kneel.
ReplyDeleteI like that you put two different links! no one else did that. Trump did take things a little too far i agree with you.
ReplyDeleteYou got your point across and made it clear that we have freedom of speech. Also made it clear that trump took things way too far.
