Josh Turner - Hometown Girl
Do They Really Mean It?
Josh Turner - Hometown Girl
I decided to choose three different artist, with three different lyrics. The first artist I went with was Cardi B. Her song "Red Barz" on what I think is a mix tape, the lyric that caught my attention, she states “I got enough bras, ya ain't gotta support me.” This is a metaphor renaming a person to the bra.Meaning she doesn't need anyone to take care of her because she has enough to support herself and that really just spoke to me, and I just. I just loved it! It kinda comes off as women empowerment, she speaks to you through that quote. My second song choice and artist would be “Hometown Girl” by Josh Turner in his album Deep South and I truly love that song with a passion,it is down to earth and sweet the lyric in his song that grabbed my attention is when he says “ with a ribbon tying back those waterfall curls”. He is showing a metaphorical statement about her curls describing them as a free falling waterfalls, loose and wavy. Last I have my all time favorite song “Let's Groove” from the band Earth, Wind and Fire from their album The Essential Earth, Wind, and Fire. The lyrics I chose from that song, would be the part when they say “Let this groove, set in your shoe” which the meaning of it shows personification, a “groove” setting in your shoe. Obviously that can never happen, but the meaning of that is when they are trying to let you feel the rhythm and start dancing, or in other words get into a “groove” of things.
This is good. I like how you used different genres of music and did not just stick with one artists and/or genre!
ReplyDeleteYou had great figurative language but I'm going to be honest I don't know what "Let's Groove" is.
ReplyDeleteChoosing three different artists and genres was a good idea.
ReplyDeletenow I never really heard any of these song before but the way you broke the song down with figurative language made it really clear.
ReplyDeleteliked how you used Cardi Band didn't use any curse words and how you used her lyrics to explain as a metaphor.
